On a quiet morning....

It is a quiet and dark morning here. I'm sitting in the office watching the wind blow our overgrown grass... (a constant reminder that it needs to be cut)... I have my hot cup of tea... (which is a poor substitute for a dark mocha at my local coffee shop)... and Lynard Skynard's 'Sweet Home Alabama' is blasting out of my computer (a poor attempt to get me awake)... Today is the day that our kitchen is getting repainted, and I have been up and waiting for the painters for a while now.... The drama that was our bust pipe in the kitchen seems to never end, but hopefully today we will be able to move back into the kitchen........

I have been sitting here looking through all the photos that I have taken this winter. To be honest, I'm shocked that there are SO many that I have never posted. On average - if I go out for a drive - I'll come home with 30ish unique photos (if I'm lucky) that I'm really am happy with. It would seem that I only usually post three or four of these... So... I have a lot of photos that never make it to the internet. So.... I've decided to go through and post a few of these from this winter....

Both of these photos were taken early one winter's morning, and they both have elements that I really like. Let me know what you think!

Said too much...

Saying 'tucked away in a warm little house' was only true for a little while (see our last post). We awoke to a flooded kitchen yesterday morning. Two pipes (or one in two places - not sure which) had burst in the middle of the night. Water was pouring out of our ceiling in several places. We got the water turned off and dried up... and we worked with our landlord all day yesterday to get the kitchen ceiling torn out (along with the insulation, etc).... So... needless to say, our house isn't as warm as it was when it had insulation... and it is damper.... but, thankfully, our landlord is going to work hard to get everything taken care of!

In the mean time.... here are just a couple more pictures from the wood.

Snowed In.... and Loving It....

The winter storms are getting worse... and I am happy to say that we are tucked away in our nice little warm home. Several of our friends have lost their water (due to pipes freezing in the ground), but (thankfully) we still have ours (and can share). So... I have been content to spend a quiet Sunday at home with a fire the in the fireplace and friends dropping over from time to time.

Yesterday was a cold but sunny day. Dee and I got out for a little while to go to the store and to see some friends... We made a brief stopover at a local wood. If you have ever come (or ever do) to visit us we will probably take you here. There is something about the moss covered trees that makes the whole place feel enchanted (not to mention the occasional little person sightings). Once again, I was awed to see the green wood transformed into a winter wonderland. So - with the ground crunching beneath my feet - I explored and took a few pictures....

Here are just a few:
