Final Story About London...

I know that everyone is probably tired of our pictures and stories of London... I know that someone out there is wondering just how long we actually spent there.... well... we only stayed a few days, but all of our time was filled with fun things that are so radically different from Ireland. We really had a blast.

I have to say, however, that the best part of the trip took place on Sunday. We went with our friends to a historic area of London (literally the area with the old Roman walls!) for a day of connecting with history. We didn't just go to the museums - even though they were awesome - but we also hung out in some cool grave yards and churches. We went to a worship service at John Wesley's old church. It was awesome to be in a place with such great history. The Wesley brothers took Christianity out of the churches and out to the people. They started a movement - a revival that is still felt today. John was the preacher, and Charles Wesley wrote many world famous hymns. After the service we were given an extremely personal tour of the church, grave yard, and the home of John Wesley. The highlight was going into the old prayer room where Charles' original organ is kept. Dee was invited to sit down and to play on this historic instrument! A thrill for a music lover that can not accurately be expressed in writing!

One of my(D's) highlights from London.........

I'll take two scoops of chocolate chip in a cup, please!

O.K., it costs 3.50 pounds for two scoops...right now 2 U.S. dollars = 1 pound....I will let you do the math, and might I say, "boy howdy, it was worth it!"

Home Again...!

(that is 'Big Ben' in the distance)Sorry for the silence last week. We had to travel to England for a week of meetings... The week went really fast, and we had a good time, but I didn't have regular access to a computer. Since we were already in the area - Dee and I decided to hang out a few extra days and meet up with a few of our friends in London. We only had a couple of days in the big city, but it was a great change of scenery for a few days... a change that we really needed! We are home now, and we will be posting a few pics over the next couple of days... so stay tuned!

A Garden Update...

I know it is hard to believe - but it has not rained (with the exception of one hail storm) in almost two weeks! It has been amazing! I have absolutely loved having the evenings to get dirty in my garden! Step 1 complete: Dig out rocks and gravel out of 2/3 of my garden. Step 2 complete: Bring in good topsoil and rework the area. Step 3 complete: collect cool rocks off of the beach and make a small border.

The picture does not show it -- but I have started planting heathers in the cracks on top of the rock, and along it's side. Next step: start planting the flowers/plants I have bought. I still have not made up my mind as to what I am going to do with the far side of the rock. There are a lot of stones and weeds there. It is going to be back breaking work to clear it. Stay tuned...

(Picture comment: Notice that Peig is still helping me!)
