Coffee Anyone?
To anyone out there that knew me in college....
You probably remember the fact that I really did not like Carpe Diem. That is right... I didn't like the cool coffee house that everyone at our university loved... I admit it... I'm not sure what it was that made me not like it... Maybe I wasn't cool..... (you think to yourself - "no! That couldn't be it!!") It just seemed like it was the "cool" thing to do... But I was always bored out of my mind. I didn't like coffee... And there were about a hundred other places that I would have rather been.
I now have to admit that I probably missed out on something... I have discovered that I love coffee. When we first moved here (almost) three years ago a new coffee shop was opening in a village not too far from here. There are not too many other places to go and read during the stormy winter days... So I decided that I was going to experiment with coffee. I went armed with a book, journal, or postcards to be written and simply worked my way down the list of coffees. My first attempt was with the one iced tea on the menu. It came to me with no ice and was piping hot.
Experiment 1 = not a success.
I tried the expressos.... not really my taste...
I tried coffee americano... ok... but was lacking something...
I tried cappuccino... nice...
AND THEN.... destiny was fulfulled. In a slow motion moment I tried my first dark mocha! Ahhhh.... the perfect combination of coffee and chocolate!
Why is it that no one had ever introduced me to this heavenly combination? I found my drink... and I loved the coffee house. The coffee house isn't fancy... it isn't trendy... it is just a perfect place to sit and watch the traffic... read a book... or better yet - to meet up with a friend. I start every Monday morning with a jog and then a tall dark mocha with my friend.
I do have to admit that I was a bit shocked and bewildered when I got this cup of coffee:

Does this mean that I drink too much coffee?
Does it just mean that I am a friendly guy and the staff likes me?
Does it mean that they know how I like my coffee - Extra chocalate?
Either way - I don't care. I like that I have a coffee shop where I know everyone & they know me. I'm glad that I have finally found a coffee that I really like... and I would like to apologize to every college friend that I didn't want to go get coffee with... I guess that I am finally growing up.
