Love - Irish style
St. Valentine's Day is celebrated here in Ireland just as it is in the States (we have Hallmark too you know), but it seems like more people are outspoken against the commercialism and the "need" to give gifts on just this one very expensive day. It is all the talk on the radio stations here, and there seem to be quite a few people speaking out against the forced holiday.
In honor of this day I have decided to give you a few fun facts about love in Ireland.
1. How to say I love you in Irish Gaelic: Tá grá agam duit
2. It may not be widely known outside Ireland that the Carmelite Church in Whitefriar Street in Dublin City claims to hold the remains of St Valentine. (sorry no pictures yet)
3. The infamousus shock-rocker Marilyn Manson married his longtime girlfriend, burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese in Ireland a couple of months ago. They married at the beautiful Castle Gurteen in County Tipperary.
