Proverbs

Just a few more fun proverbs from the area....

Ní hé lá na báistí lá na bpáistí
A rainy day isn't a day for the children

Go n-ithe an cat thú is go n-ithe an diabhal an cat
May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat

Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile
A beetle recognises another beetle

Coimhéad fearg fhear na foighde
Beware of the anger of a patient man

Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad
A light heart lives longest

And the best one so far:

Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam
A country without a language is a country without a soul!

Keeping Busy

Sorry that there have not been very many posts over the past week. We have been very busy with some students that are here traveling around Ireland for the summer. We have really enjoyed our time with them this past week, and we hope that they have a great time in this beautiful country.

We were really excited to have three of my family members come see us this month. My mom (far right), my sister - Pris (middle), and her husband - Ron (the only guy in the picture) came and spent ten days with us! We had a wonderful time traveling around Ireland. We had decent weather while they were here... but I think that it was a little colder here than it was back in the states. I hope to create a little page with some of their pictures in a bit.

A Few Things That I Have Learned While Living In Ireland:

Potatoes have a nice bounce if they fall from a great height.

Potatoes will always look a dirty brown – no matter how much you try to wash them.

You can accidentally peel your finger with the potato peeler.

It is hard to type with toilet tissue wrapped around your finger.

Maybe Dee shouldn’t leave me at home alone to start on dinner.

A Few Things That I Will Learn:

Where Dee keeps the Band-Aids

Can you taste a difference if not all the potatoes are peeled

How long it takes for potatoes to sprout in the back yard
